Opportunities to Serve and Thanks to Our Leaders

The Nepco Lake District (NLD) has opportunities for neighbors to help guide its work, along with several leadership changes for the new board year. We’re grateful to the commissioners whose service has helped build and strengthen the NLD.

Opportunities to serve on the board

Two seats are currently vacant on our seven-member board, and another vacancy is expected soon:

  • An elected commissioner seat became vacant when Vickie Gukenberger chose not to seek reelection at the annual meeting. No candidate accepted the position.
  • The Wood County-appointed seat remains vacant following Joe Zurfluh’s departure earlier this year. The NLD is working with the Wood County board chair to fill it.
  • Another elected commissioner seat will become vacant when Nick Kreiling steps down in the coming weeks.

Board service is an opportunity to help shape decisions that affect the lake’s health, recreation, and the NLD’s use of resources. We are especially interested in hearing from neighbors willing to support financial management or stakeholder engagement.

Thank you to our departing commissioners

We thank Vickie Gukenberger for her years of service to the board and the NLD. Her contributions are appreciated, and her presence on the board will be missed.

We also thank Nick Kreiling for his service over the past year, including his work as treasurer. Nick has informed the board that he will step down soon, and we appreciate the time and effort he has contributed.

Leadership for the new board year

Eric Hummel, one of the District’s key founders, chose not to seek another year as chair but will continue serving as a commissioner. We thank Eric for his outstanding leadership as the NLD’s first chair and for his continued commitment to Nepco Lake.

Following the annual meeting, the board elected Larry Isensee as chair and Nick Kreiling as treasurer. Dave Orcutt was elected secretary at the subsequent August board meeting. Larry was also reelected to a three-year commissioner term at the annual meeting.

As these transitions move forward, the board will continue working with neighbors and volunteers to advance the NLD’s priorities.
